This full-day paddling course, led by Paddle Like A Girl, introduces foundational canoe skills and practical knowledge for backcountry canoe trips. The course is open to anyone who identifies as a woman or non-binary and wants to learn to paddle in a welcoming, small-group environment.
Whether you are trying canoeing for the first time or building toward a future trip, the day combines time on the water with practical skills you can use right away. You will practice tandem paddling, learn basic safety techniques, and get an introduction to trip planning.
Paddle Like a Girl is a female-owned and operated outdoor recreation company dedicated to empowering women and gender-diverse paddlers to feel confident on the water and in the backcountry.
Working from the Museum’s Lakefront Campus and Little Lake in Peterborough, this hands-on canoe course offers a supportive place to learn at a comfortable pace.
